Hiroji Obayashi moved to the United States from Tokyo in 1978. After heading the historic Imperial Gardens on Los Angeles's Sunset Strip, he opened his own Hirozen in 1989. Over the years it has gained wide recognition as one of the city's best and most beloved Japanese restaurants.
